Here you can read how to clean stainless steel products in the best way.

Clean by wiping with a clean, damp and well-wrung cloth. Do not use other aids or cleaning agents as they may have an abrasive or other affecting effect which may damage the surface of the product.

What can cause rust and stains?

A stainless steel can be discolored by rust:

- If it is exposed to a more aggressive environment than the type of steel is intended for, e.g. highly polluted air, salt solutions, placement in chlorine-containing spaces or the influence of certain chemicals that are in contact with the stainless steel surface for a longer period.
- If the material is contaminated by iron particles, e.g. grinding chips from tools used during installation.
- If the material is mounted with fasteners of ordinary steel or has direct contact with adjacent constructions of unalloyed steel.

Prevention

- Use fasteners such as nails, screws and bolts of the same stainless steel quality as the product during installation.
- Avoid the risk of galvanic corrosion between stainless and non-alloy steel components in places exposed to moisture and moisture (eg by electrical insulation).
- Use clean tools, free from remnants of ordinary unalloyed steel in the form of chips and iron particles from previous work.
- Do not use steel brushes and steel wool of non-alloy steel.

Stain and discoloration removal

If the stainless steel product has been stained or discolored, which cannot be removed with normal water washing, the following cleaning methods can be recommended:

- Wash with alcohol, alternatively thinner or acetone, rinse with clean, cold water and dry.
- Wash with organic solvents as before, then wash with soap and water, rinse with clean, cold water and dry.
- Wash with mild abrasive detergent such as scouring powder, rub in the direction of any visible surface structure, rinse with clean, cold water and dry.
- Rub with scotch-brite sponge in the direction of any visible surface structure, rinse with clean, cold water and dry.
